Turning Boat Design the right way up
The well trodden path to designing a boat is to employ a Naval Architect.  A Naval Architect traditionally understands all aspects of boat design from materials, structures and engineering right through to 3D CAD.  Usually a lofty well rounded individual.

The Automotive industry, when starting a new car design, start with the end users.  your customers.  They try incredibly hard to think of new ways to delight and entice them into purchase their vehicles.  They start with market research, then to concept sketches, concept models, then finally when all the elements in the design that interface with the customer are agreed, then the engineers are given the task of making it work.

The owner Craig Clarkstone, has a first class degree in Industrial Design and combines this with a design/drafting background working with Princess Yachts International (then Marine Projects Ltd), and World famous Naval Architect Tony Castro working on production powerboats and luxury Super yacht designs.

Although experienced in Boat Design, Craig specifically set up X factor in early 1999 to be a multi-disciplined design consultancy, so that each area of design can benefit from others.  This approach ensures that good design practice wins in all areas.  From designing the exterior, interior, brochure and web page, you can have coherent, fluid first class design across the whole spectrum of your design needs.

 We travel and work worldwide, or equally use the internet and video conferencing to help work conveniently to you wherever you are (and to keep costs down). we have pioneered and successfully undertaken international projects utilising the internet as an effective medium for marketing as well as communicating with our clients anywhere in the world. 

X Factor create renderings, 3D computer models, general arrangements and technical specifications. We create design presentations defining your project to meet any clients requirements.

Not Just Pretty Pictures.
At the completion of a concept we create a complete presentation; this includes a CD containing the design models, imagery, animations, general arrangements, technical documentation and specification. 

When the boat goes into production, we produce a full set of CAD generated BS308 drawings to build to.  We can project manage, produce 3D Class 'A' surfaces for CNC machining, liase with shop floor, find boatyards for custom projects, and provide an informed single point of contact.
